So… you’d like to write a guest post for Insider Secrets? Well, honestly I’m flattered!

I receive 5-10 (or more!) guest post requests each week (yes, really!). Most requests get trashed before I get to the second paragraph because they’re either…

  1. Outright spam; or
  2. Poorly written and contain grammar/spelling mistakes

So the good news is… if you’re an expert with something compelling to share, your chance of getting my attention is excellent!

What I’m looking for

I accept guest post submissions that have compelling headlines and provide actionable advice to my readers. I’m looking for original content that isn’t the same old thing re-hashed a million times. Contributions must be original and have not been published before, including on your own blog. You also agree not to publish the post elsewhere in the future.

My readers are interested in starting an online business or growing one they already have. This includes all aspects of being an online entrepreneur. My content tends to be focused on the one-person Internet-based businesses — so called “solopreneurs.”

They’re looking for strong, well-researched opinions and recommendations — not marketing fluff or something they could get from a “features” or “about us” section.

Some of the topics my readers are interested in include…

Blogging, podcasting, online business, digital marketing, internet marketing, search engine optimization, domain names, e-mail marketing, social media marketing, influencer marketing, blog monetization and more.

My audience is especially interested in digital marketing tools and online marketing technology: Web hosting, chatbots, autoresponders, social media tools and more.

So, what’s in it for you?

I actively share guest submitted posts across my social marketing channels and understand that guest posting is a two-way street — while I like to publish great content that helps my readers, you’re looking to build your profile and personal brand. If you have a new book coming out, a blog or podcast you’re promoting, or an upcoming product launch, I’m happy to help you with your goals in any way I can.

General Guidelines

Guest post authors should have a recognizable online profile. You don’t need to be famous, but you must have a blog, podcast, business, and/or social media presence. I never accept submissions from “mystery” or anonymous writers.

I DO NOT accept sponsored content or sponsored posts — without exception. I am NOT interested in taking money from you to post a link to your website, or adding your “awesome resource” to one of my posts. That’s not fair to my readers. Who really falls for that crap?

I’m generally looking for 1,000 to 1,500 words. Photos and screenshots are highly encouraged, but must be attributed or your own work.

Links to outside resources are allowed as long as they are highly related to the content and they benefit readers. I use a service to detect plagiarized and “spun” content.

How to submit a guest post

Please pitch your idea via e-mail before you write the article. I don’t want you to go through all the work if it’s not what we’re looking for!

Please provide a brief (two or three sentence) bio. I will also link to your website/blog and up to two social media profiles, as requested.

If you’re interested in submitting a guest post idea, e-mail me at [email protected].

Please reference having read this guest blogging policy within the body of your request to help me spot serious inquiries.
